3L Senator - Candidate Statements
Meet Your Candidates for 3L Senator
Dan JanowFor the last two years I have been an involved member of the SBA Senate. As a 1L Senator I organized social events, highlighted by our "Section Slam" mixer. I stood up for constituents both in representing their opinions about LRW grading and addressing group
concerns to professors.
This year I was re-elected to the Senate and was appointed Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee. Despite the presence of new clubs, budget requests which greatly exceeded available funds and a difficult financial climate I was able to guide the committee to propose a budget that balanced the needs of groups against limited available funds.
These experiences have made me the right choice for 3L Senator. I ask that you vote for me to allow me to continue to improve the SBA in representing the student body.
Kim Soto
Dear Fellow Students, my name is Kimberly Soto and I would like to represent you as a 3L senator. If elected I will dedicate my best efforts to convey information and opinions between the student body and administration and also draft legislation aimed at improving the SBA's
functions. I have participated in 1L orientation activities and am a student mentor both of which have given me the opportunity to listen to student's needs and address problems on an individual and group level. Due to the recent downturn in the economy and employment situation, I will focus on working closely with career services to provide a strong alumni and
mentoring base for current students seeking positions as well as expanding resources to students who wish to practice outside the greater DC area. I am an extremely dedicated and hard worker, qualities that will serve me well as your senator.
Hello, my name is Albert Williams and I want to serve you. As a 2L Senator, I voted for the admission of new student groups as a part of my core campaign promise of promoting more participation from all of our community. I am happy to also announce that I have ended Domino's reign as the only approved vendor. Soon, all student groups will receive information about MGM Roast Beef, a local DC vendor that will be able to provide your functions with food utilizing a form similar to Domino's. This is only the first new vendor.
I ask for your vote for 3L Senator so that I may continue working to serve your needs. In addition to the experience I gained from the Senate and Finance Committee, I bring experience from my service in the US Army, five years of international trade work, and three years with General Electric.
